1. Preparing the Next Generation for Revival!
a. How Satan wanted to take the Next Generation in Europe.
“He alone, who holds the youth, gains the future” said Hitler in 1935 to indoctrinate the next generation of in Germany – an ideology resulting in the Second World War which caused havoc and destruction in Europe killing millions of people.
However, in post-war Europe, traditional values regarding the family, childbirth, marriage, sexuality, sanctity of life and community were dismantled not just culturally, but also legally. By eliminating the Biblical foundations in the education system and they took hold of the next generation through education and school systems.
“Change is always one generation away” a secular scientist said. “So if we can plant the seeds of doubt in our children, religion will go away in a generation, or at least largely go away – and that’s what I think we have an obligation to do.”
The Changing Face of Europe
- 51 countries
- Over 730 million people
- Over 1960 people groups
- 22 of these states have less than 1% evangelical Christians.
- 250,000 towns in Europe have NO witness of the Gospel.
- Less than 1 in 10 attend any type of church.
- The Joshua Project lists 192 unreached groups in Western Europe.
Secular Worldview.
b. Prayer to Claim Back the Next Generation for Revival.
But we in prayer declare and claim back the next generation of Europe and speak to the Enemy that he cannot steal them any more!
Joel 2:28 promise of Revival in Europe is that its ‘Sons and Daughters shall prophesy”
Luke Greenwood, the European director of Steiger, a young-people-focused missions ministry says: “The new generation seemed to be more aware of the emptiness of a purely materialistic lifestyle – They are increasingly open to spiritual conversations, prayer, and especially looking for a community to belong to.’’
We see in Scripture again and again that in the darkest of times, when the people of God turn to him with all their hearts, God hears their prayers. Lets pray for the revival God has in store for the continent!
c. Isaiah 35 Prayer for Europe:
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,
Isaiah 35:5-6
And the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
Then the lame shall leap like a deer,
And the tongue of the dumb sing.
For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness,
And streams in the desert.
The parched ground shall become a pool,
And the thirsty land springs of water;
- Let us claim the lost generation back to Jesus in Europe.
- Pray that the blindness of Secularism will be broken in the next generation.
- That Churches will find new life and energy to reach the Children and Youth.
- That Revival sweep through schools and colleges brining a great harvest of souls.
2. Pray for the Highway of the Gospel in Europe:
Europe has been the ‘Highway of Missions’ to all the nations of the earth in the past 3 centuries.
Isaiah prophesied that there will be a greater Highway which will have significant movement. Through things that unfolded in Europe in the past 30 years God has literally created a Highway which Isaiah saw:
A highway shall be there, and a road,
Isaiah 35:8-9.
And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness.
The unclean shall not pass over it,
But it shall be for others.
Whoever walks the road, although a fool,
Shall not go astray.
No lion shall be there,
Nor shall any ravenous beast go up on it;
It shall not be found there.
But the redeemed shall walk there,
a. The Highway of Migrants
Daniel Constanza of Pentecostal European Missions (PEM) in Belgium notes that that immigrants and refugees have changed the face of Europe! Over 8 Million Africans and another 8 million Asians are now in Europe, reflecting this Highway which Isaiah prophesied.
This influx has brought many of the Unreached people groups in Africa and Asia right to the door step of the European Church. We praise God for many European Churches who are working among them and reaching with the Gospel, especially creating opportunities to touch the Nations of the World which are closed to the Gospel.
b. The Highway for Diaspora Churches.
At the same time, the Christians from these nations have brought a fresh touch of fire to the churches and nations in Europe. Operation World highlights that these Christian immigrants’ spiritual vibrancy, evangelistic passion and confidence in the gospel are making an impact on religious life in Europe.
Many Christian migrants come from nations where persecution is common and where other religions are the majority. Their bold witness and unswerving faith is much needed in the West.
The influx of Christian migrants from Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean provides a much-needed impetus to church life. Some claim that almost 50% of the EU’s migrants are church members.
Another missiological report in 2021 explains:
Latin-American migrants have planted thousands of churches in Spain, Portugal and beyond over the last thirty years. It is difficult to find a major European city that does not have a large Spanish speaking and/or Brazilian congregation. Similarly, Chinese churches can be found almost everywhere. African-initiated Pentecostal churches number in the thousands in Britain alone.
3. Pray for Salvation of Europe.
Isaiah prophesied of Salvation and the Redeemed of the Lord walking in this Highway!
And the ransomed of the Lord shall return,
Isaiah 35:10
And come to Zion with singing,
With everlasting joy on their heads.
They shall obtain joy and gladness,
And sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
Lindsay Brown, the director of the Lausanne Movement notes that:
“Across the continent we see lights flickering in the darkness through many wonderful ministries. Please pray with us that God, through the Holy Spirit, would fan these flickering lights into the flame of revival.”
Let us pray this prophetic Prayer for Europe and believe that the coming Revival see the greatest harvest of souls in Europe.
