Therefore Pray the Lord of the Harvest to send out laborers into His harvest - Matthew 9:38

Introduction.

In Deuteronomy 9, God’s reveals His destiny for Israel in 3 specific areas:
The Nations, Cities, and Giants!

Hear, O Israel: You are to cross over the Jordan today, and go in to dispossess nations greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fortified up to heaven, a people great and tall, the descendants of the Anakim, whom you know, and of whom you heard it said,
‘Who can stand before the descendants of Anak?’ ‘

Deuteronomy 9:1-2

While Nations and Cities were their destiny, Giants were not! They were the obstacle to their inheritance.
Today, Giants represent spiritual forces that control and cause enormous human suffering in the world today. These are reflected in social, political, religious or spiritual issues that needs discernment and intercession. However, our focus should be on God’s ability to give us the Nations & Cities, and not on the negative aspects of giants that the 10 spies of Israel elaborated.

‘Therefore understand today that the Lord your God is He who goes over before you as a consuming fire. He will destroy them and bring them down before you; so you shall drive them out and destroy them quickly, as the Lord has said to you.’

Deuteronomy 9:3

God’s Promise:
1. He will go before You.
2. He will be Consuming Fire.
3. He will destroy them Quickly.
Therefore we can pray boldly against the giants within these 2 Nations!

Key Points for Prayer in facing Giants in China and India.

We wish to highlight some key issues for prayer which we have compiled from Operation World and other sources.

1. Pray for the Enormous Human Suffering: Health, Poverty & Suffering.

China & India represent some of the greatest human needs on planet earth.

China:
  • Those with disease and ill health.
  • Millions suffer with tuberculosis, diabetes is on a rapid rise and hundreds of thousands are HIV positive.
  • Drug-use – over one million users, two-thirds of whom are under age 35.
  • Smoking is a ticking time bomb – 350 million smokers consume over two trillion cigarettes a year.
  • The disabled : 83 million or one-fifth of the world’s total.
  • Yearly, over 1.2 million are born with defects, and the number is rising.
  • Abuse and oppression of women, orphans, refugees (especially from North Korea) and the millions living in poverty.
  • The depressed and hopeless – China now has the highest number of suicides in the world at nearly 300,000 per year, a majority of whom are women.

Pray: Jesus sees and remembers them all; pray that the Church might also.

India:

India has more human needs than any other nation!
Largely by virtue of its massive population, but also due to many areas of suffering that must be addressed through considered action and sustained prayer.

  • Poverty affects hundreds of millions, often as utter destitution that is far below any arbitrary income level mathematically calculated by international bodies.
  • Health concerns affect huge swathes of India’s population.
  • Around 33% of children under age three suffer from malnutrition.
  • Inadequate sanitation and lack of clean water multiply the waterborne diseases that impact mostly children and the poor.
  • An estimated 2.3 million people per year die as a result of drinking unclean water or breathing polluted air. Women and children who suffer the most.
  • Pray that God will change attitudes and practices in society to reflect His care for women and children.
  • Of the 400 million children, possibly up to 35 million are orphans.
  • 11 million are abandoned (90% are girls).
  • 3 million live on the streets.
  • Some families sell children into slavery to pay off family debts.
  • Two-thirds of all children suffer physical abuse, and half suffer some kind of sexual harassment or abuse.
  • Over 1 million end up in prostitution (mostly Nepalis and Bangladeshis).
  • Society prefers male children, so some families abort, abandon, or even kill girl babies.
  • The female population today lacks 35 million girls when compared with the male population.
  • Women have lower rates of literacy and education, and domestic abuse is a widespread problem. Some young girls get dedicated to the ancient service of temple prostitution.

Take a moment to pray to the Lord for this suffering humanity.
“Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He brought them out of darkness, the utter darkness, and broke away their chains.” Psalm 107:113-14.
