The homegoing of Rev. Dr George O. Wood, who was the Chairman of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship has been announced. He served in this global leadership role since 2008 giving vision and leadership to the Assemblies of God Councils and to leaders around the world. Dr Wood was known for his deep commitment to the Scriptures and to the Mission of God on earth.
Born to missionary parents serving in China, he was renowned as a Pentecostal statesman who was a bridge-builder with many Christian denominations and organizations. One of the initiatives he desired to see happen through the WAGF is the ‘MM33,’ the accomplishing of the Great Commission by the year 2033.
He also served as the General Superintendent of the US Assemblies of God for 10 years during which time that movement experienced tremendous growth and stability.
The World Assemblies of God Fellowship which comprises over 160 National Councils will certainly miss Dr Wood and his wisdom, leadership, and guidance to this largest Pentecostal Movement in the world.
Please stand in prayer for the Wood family; his wife Jewel, son George Paul, and daughter Evangeline.
